July 2025- Permaculture Design Course
Welcome to our Winter to Summer Permaculture Design Course of 2025! The PDC is a 72 hr course that we run over 6 months (one weekend per month) at our established permaculture farm in Pinbarren. The course covers each module of the Permaculture Design manual and will teach you how to design, build and maintain a self-sustainable food growing garden. There will be a mix of hands-on practical learning and classroom theory to cover all of the modules in the course.
The PDC covers:
- The Ethics, Principles and Context of permaculture
- Soil health, advanced composting methods
- Biochar cooking, microbe brewing, liquid fertilisers
- Permaculture plants and their uses
- The Permaculture Design Process
- Reading the landscape
- Garden Floor Plans
- Vegetable garden design
- Food forestry design
- Earthworks & Foundations
- Concept drawing
- Designing for climate
- Sustainable technologies
- Social and emotional permaculture
- Creating your own permaculture garden plan
Each monthly module of the course will build your skills and tools to create your own garden plan!
Our course is designed in a way that helps you start your own garden from the ground up. You can practice everything you have learned during the month in-between our weekend classes e.g. composting, planting, designing etc. We will also be making trips out to other permaculture sites to practice our knowledge and skills. Each weekend we will give you course notes in an information booklet, written and illustrated by me.
Every weekend is fully catered with morning tea & lunch. Please provide us with any dietary requirements you need, and we will cater to the best of our ability.
At the end of the PDC you will receive your Permaculture Design Certificate which will allow you to teach your own workshops, classes and start your own consultancy work!
